About The Position

MasTec Communications Group is a national infrastructure construction company providing wireline and wireless communication services, including cell tower construction, RF engineering, broadband fiber optic cable installation, OSP engineering, wireline construction, and emergency maintenance services. The Survey Engineer II works with Project Managers and Construction Managers to quote new Central Office work for customers by developing scopes of work and identifying engineering, material, and resource requirements. The role requires travel throughout Virginia and experience with Central Office work at main switch hubs.

Requirements

Track record of completing work with a high level of quality.
Ability to solve challenging problems and take a hands-on approach to work.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suites.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent time management, organizational planning, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and keep commitments.

Ability to manage, establish, and communicate clear goals and objectives.
Ability to travel throughout Virginia.
Central Office experience at main switch hubs.

Responsibilities

Survey jobs within the report card matrix interval or by the date specified by the manager, and send survey results to the quote team and managers.
Request venue information for power and transportation.
Provide sketched drawings for detailed specifications, such as cable racks, cable routes, Panduit, lighting, and bay placement, using Excel, Visio, CAD, or other tools. These are not venue drawings.
Create a bill of materials for major materials, primarily for the FPQ and to assist detailers.
Work with detail engineers to address questions about surveyed jobs during detail engineering.
Inform the FPQ Revision group when a change order is required if the scope of work changes after the quote has been submitted.
Take necessary site photographs.
Work with Project Managers and Construction Managers to develop scopes of work and determine engineering, material, and resource requirements for Central Office quotes.
