About The Position

Dynotec is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Survey Crew Chief to lead field operations in conducting accurate and efficient land surveys across Central Ohio. The role oversees field operations and team members, verifies the precision of survey data, and collaborates directly with project managers and clients.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in land surveying, including at least 1 year leading or managing projects.
• Proficiency with modern surveying instruments and data software.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong communication and crew management capabilities.
• Comfort working outdoors and ability to regularly carry up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 80 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• Higher education beyond an associate degree.
• Drone license.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise field survey crews conducting boundary, topographic, construction, and control surveys.
• Perform and verify survey calculations, including traverse closures, level loops, and coordinate geometry.
• Operate and maintain total stations, GPS units, and digital data collectors.
• Document field notes, sketches, and digital data accurately for project deliverables and legal reference.
• Enforce safety protocols, conduct daily HSAP reviews, and ensure adherence to OSHA and company standards.
• Train junior crew members on equipment and procedures; coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to resolve field issues.
• Monitor project budgets, timelines, timekeeping, field expenses, and equipment maintenance.
