About The Position

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a full-time Survey Crew Chief to lead a field survey team. The role collects data to support design activities, performs boundary surveying, and provides sketches and layout for construction activities. It requires extensive travel.

Requirements

Ability to effectively lead a survey crew and train or mentor crew members.
Ability to operate a total station and GPS in static and RTK modes for control networks, boundaries, ALTA surveys, topography, and construction staking.
Valid driver's license and clean driving history; ability to operate a motor vehicle.
OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid certification, or ability and willingness to acquire them.
Ability to perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence.
Basic office suite computer skills.
Ability to travel extensively and remain at project sites for extended periods.
Ability to self-fund travel expenses until reimbursement is disbursed.
Physical mobility around construction sites and field assignments.
Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural, or urban environments.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances.
Ability to work outdoors in conditions involving weather, insects, and changing environments.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology, or a related area of study.
Experience with land development projects, including commercial and residential development, and public infrastructure projects.
Experience coordinating activities with office personnel, including surveying technicians and engineering staff.
FAA Part 107 UAS License.

Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise to internal and external clients.
Perform field work for land surveying scopes, including construction staking, boundary location, ALTA surveys, and topography for various project types.
Organize field staking materials as necessary.
Operate GPS, total stations, scanners, and data collectors.
Transfer files between data collectors and internal company project folders.
Communicate project status, daily progress, and issues to office teams.
Maintain productive working relationships with clients and coworkers.
Follow company Safety, Quality Management, and Equipment Maintenance policies.
Ensure division, regional, and company policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service.
Lead by example through sound judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism.
Lead, train, and mentor survey crew members.
