About The Position

Callon Dietz is actively searching for a Survey Crew Chief to join our growing team in London, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing a wide range of surveys, including: engineering, topographic, bathymetric, geodetic, utility, aerial, MMS/LiDAR, legal/cadastral, land development/informational, and subsurface utility. Requirements

  • Has a university degree or college diploma in Geomatics, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
  • Has 1-3 years of leadership experience as a Party/Crew Chief
  • Must have previous experience working with Robotic Total Stations, GNSS survey equipment, laser scanners, and digital levels
  • Is highly proficient with survey field data transfer software and general computer software and applications
  • Has a strong understanding of legal surveying requirements and best practices
  • Understands the importance of our high degree of quality and compliance to health and safety standards
  • Holds a valid driver’s license
  • Is eager to travel as a part of their day-to-day routine

Responsibilities

  • Travelling regularly across Ontario
  • Managing a field crew of 1-2 individuals
  • Working with Robotic Total Stations, GNSS survey instruments, digital levels, and 3D laser scanners
  • Coordinating with and providing support to our drafting/mapping division
  • Managing projects and implementing corrective actions to ensure project specifications are met
  • Providing progress reports to the Field Supervisor
  • Keeping management and clients informed on project status
  • Managing field data, notes, and work records
  • Computing field data
  • Providing technical support for internal and external clients
  • Maintaining field equipment and vehicles
  • Assisting in the preparation of work proposals
  • Mentoring and providing hands-on training to our new and existing field staff
  • Performing all duties in compliance with the OHSA and Callon Dietz’s Health and Safety and Quality Control programs
