As a Survey Crew Chief, you’ll lead field survey work that helps project teams build with confidence. This role supports construction layout, boundary, and topographic survey efforts, with a strong focus on safety, accuracy, communication, and dependable field execution. Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and at least 4 years of relevant survey experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in construction layout, boundary, and topographic survey work.
  • Strong working knowledge of Robotic Total Stations and RTK GPS.
  • Solid math skills and the ability to interpret plats, legal descriptions, and field data accurately.
  • The ability to work outdoors in changing weather and terrain, lift and carry up to 40 pounds, and work overtime when needed.

Nice To Haves

  • An FAA Part 107 drone license is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead field survey activities for construction layout, boundary, and topographic projects, with safety and quality at the center of the work.
  • Operate and use Robotic Total Stations and RTK GPS equipment to collect, verify, and manage survey data in the field.
  • Read and interpret legal descriptions and survey plats, and calculate points needed to support accurate field layout.
  • Coordinate work in the field with site superintendents and communicate clearly about progress, needs, and changes.
  • Guide and delegate work for up to two crew members while also being comfortable working independently when needed.
  • Send, receive, and manage electronic survey files using a laptop and data collector to support efficient, well-documented field operations.
