About The Position

GMC is seeking a Survey CAD Technician to support our Georgia survey operations in our Cartersville, Georgia office. This position requires a working knowledge of land surveying principles, survey data processing, and computer-aided drafting. The ideal candidate will work closely with surveyors, project managers, and design teams to produce accurate and high-quality survey deliverables for a variety of public and private sector projects throughout Georgia.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently with general direction while maintaining effective communication with project teams and supervisors.
  • Working knowledge of Georgia land surveying practices, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, subdivision platting, easement exhibits, rights-of-way, and utility mapping.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including survey databases, survey figures, auto-linework, and surface generation.
  • Ability to prepare final printed and electronic survey deliverables with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of construction plans and the ability to prepare data necessary for field layout and staking.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and ability to manage multiple project deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with MicroStation, GIS platforms, and survey field software is preferred but not required.
  • Prior field survey experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Surveyor and Survey Manager with preparation of information necessary to commence field surveys and construction staking operations.
  • Research, interpret, and recreate property information from deeds, plats, easements, right-of-way maps, and previous survey records.
  • Process and verify field survey data to ensure compliance with company standards, project requirements, and Georgia surveying practices.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare survey drawings, digital terrain models, base maps, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, subdivision plats, easement exhibits, and construction staking deliverables.
  • Produce accurate final deliverables in accordance with company CAD standards and field-to-finish procedures.
  • Organize and maintain project files and documentation in accordance with company protocols.
  • Coordinate effectively with project managers, engineers, survey crews, and other team members to meet project schedules and deadlines.
  • Support survey and engineering staff with data preparation for construction layout and staking activities.
