About The Position

The Surveillance Shift Manager is responsible for observing, documenting, and reporting on all activity on property in order to protect property assets, as well as Guests and Team Members. Directly manages and supervises Surveillance Team Members and coordinates daily Surveillance room activities. Conducts and manages Surveillance investigations and ensures compliance with Gaming and department policies, procedures, regulations and requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members and Management in both written and verbal form.
  • Minimum of two years of casino gaming related Surveillance experience, with a minimum of one year in a leadership capacity in a high volume complex casino environment or its equivalent.
  • Strong organizational and leadership qualities, interpersonal skills and dedicated commitment to excellence.
  • Possess a professional and investigative attitude.
  • Be able to react quickly and accurately under demanding, high stress conditions.
  • Must be reliable, trustworthy, and honest.
  • Able to work constantly changing schedules to adjust to fluctuating business demands, work any shifts, including holidays, with fluctuating days off.
  • Able to be autonomous and very low profile.
  • Able to perform all of the functions required of the Surveillance Supervisor.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement and mature decision-making skills that are in the best interest of Graton Resort Casino.
  • Must be computer literate to perform daily tasks.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and a team player.
  • Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Ability to work in a confined area.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Ability to work in a high-energy, high-pressure environment.
  • Must be able to listen and communicate effectively and clearly.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, or sit for long periods of time in order to use the type of equipment or tools needed for the position.

  • Maintain and communicate to the team any new or current information on known cheaters, advantage players, scams, and illegal methods of gaming.
  • Have knowledge of all casino games, including but not limited to: Blackjack, Dice, Roulette, Baccarat, Let it Ride, Caribbean Stud Poker, Pai Gow Poker, Keno, and Bingo, and understand all relevant aspects of each game, such as dealing procedures, counting strategies, and methods of cheating.

Responsibilities

  • Practicing, supporting, and promoting Graton Resort & Casino's Company-wide culture and demonstrating Graton Resort & Casino's Service Standards at all times.
  • Maintaining complete familiarity with gaming regulations, the property's Internal Control System, the department policies and procedures, and maintaining a working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws.
  • Maintaining and communicating to the team any new or current information on known cheaters, advantage players, scams, and illegal methods of gaming.
  • Communicating and collaborating with property leadership in efforts to coordinate Surveillance activities and processes in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Attending court hearings and other legal meetings, acting as a witness for Graton Resort Casino, gaming regulatory agencies, or law enforcement agencies.
  • Operating all Surveillance CCTV and related equipment, and if necessary, conducting floor observations in order to detect any violations of law, policies, and procedures.
  • Reporting to the Director of Surveillance any violations of the law, gaming regulations, and Company policies and procedures, as well as all pertinent information regarding the Surveillance Department.
  • Assisting the Director of Surveillance with creation and implementation of Surveillance department policies and procedures.
  • Understanding and adhering to disciplinary policies, including, but not limited to counseling team members and the use of progressive discipline to modify poor performance as necessary.
  • Assisting in creating and maintaining effective and efficient schedules, to include the management of attendance and time records, while managing labor costs, meeting staffing objectives and overall coverage mandated by regulations.
  • Assisting in the budget process for the department by providing recommendations; supporting compliance to departmental budget initiatives; reporting budget concerns to Director.
  • Assisting in the hiring process by conducting interviews and analysis of Surveillance department applicants.
  • Observing the precepts of truth, accuracy, and prudence; without allowing personal feelings, prejudices, animosities, or friendships to interfere or influence judgements.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality with regards to the conduct, operations, controls, and procedures involving Surveillance activities.
  • Coaching, training, and motivating all Surveillance personnel in their daily activities.
  • Assisting in the planning and organization of Surveillance training processes and conducting departmental training classes as required.
  • Performing all the duties of Surveillance Agent and Surveillance Supervisor as business demands require.
