About The Position

Monitors and reacts to security situations, safety issues, illegal activities, internal procedural violations, and regulatory infractions. This role requires maintaining strict confidentiality regarding the surveillance system and operations. Any information that could affect the business, reputation, safety, or compliance must be reported. The operator observes monitor screens displaying views of the gaming facility and land-based sites, adjusting controls as needed and reporting equipment malfunctions. They follow instructions from supervisors, maintain close surveillance of gaming and non-gaming activities, and document illegal or unusual activities. This includes activities in the gaming floor, slot booths, count rooms, vault, and cage. The role involves completing written reports and other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must pass a drug test and be able to pass random drug tests while employed.
  • Proficient in English verbal and written with the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to company management of the organization.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must have an outgoing, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude and be comfortable initiating conversations and creating a fun environment with our guests.
  • Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to push/pull or lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands/arms.
  • Required to talk or hear and concentrate through background distractions.
  • Frequently required to sit and occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license from the Indiana Gaming Commission.
  • Will require access to sensitive materials pertaining to the Surveillance Department as approved by the Director of Surveillance.
  • Will have access to all general and secure areas of the gaming facility and back-of-house areas of the Racing and Gaming facilities but does not have access to the cages, money handling areas, soft count, and the vault.
  • Ability to work in an environment where you are constantly exposed to secondary smoke and noise level in the working environment is usually quiet but can be hectic and stressful.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times as related to the surveillance system and operation.
  • Report any information, knowledge of, or observance of activities that may have a diverse effect on the business, reputation of, safety of, or compliance of the property to the Surveillance Supervisor or Surveillance Shift Manager on duty and/or if necessary, the Director of Surveillance.
  • Observe monitor screens that transmit in sequence views of the Gaming facility and land-based sites.
  • Adjust monitor controls when required to improve reception and notify Surveillance Technician of equipment malfunctions.
  • Follow all instructions and assignments given by Surveillance Supervisor and Surveillance Shift Manager.
  • Inform the Surveillance Supervisor on duty of issues as they occur and react accordingly.
  • Maintain close surveillance of all gaming and non-gaming activities utilizing the necessary equipment to identify, record and document all illegal or unusual activities occurring on the floor slot area, slot booths count rooms, vault and cage.
  • Report all illegal and unusual activities to the Surveillance Supervisor/or appropriate authority.
  • Complete all written reports required during their working shift.
  • Other duties may be assigned at any time.
