About The Position

Support the Department’s public safety mission by supervising and monitoring probationers in accordance with DOC standards. The role enhances community safety through home contacts, investigative support, and coordination with community resources. It ensures accurate documentation, effective communication, and timely reporting. Surveillance Officers play a key role in probationer accountability and successful reintegration. This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This position offers no state benefits.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates the ability to collect, analyze, and accurately document information from multiple sources while maintaining detailed records in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Possesses strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience using automated databases and case management systems.
  • Must be eligible and successfully obtain required VCIN certification.
  • All applicants are subject to a background investigation.
  • Applicants applying to a designated safety sensitive position are subject to a pre-employment drug screen.

  • Experience working with case management computer applications.
  • Demonstrated experience making referrals to community resources.
