About The Position

The Surgical Training Facility at the Orthopedic Trauma Institute is dedicated to the development and presentation of innovative medical, science, and health workshops. Our facility is among a select few academic centers in the U.S. designed exclusively for orthopedic specialists to practice and perform today’s newest and most advanced surgical procedures. Workshops are presented in full or half-day courses to train Orthopedic Surgeons in skills related to joint arthroscopy, ligament repair, orthopedic trauma, joint resurfacing and replacement, and spine surgery.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with gross anatomy lab, operating room, and sterile processing protocols.
  • Ability to handle and position cadaveric specimens.
  • Proficiency in surgical draping and instrumentation set-up.
  • Technical support skills for lab equipment and AV systems.
  • Experience operating fluoroscopy and arthroscopy machines.
  • Ability to maintain lab cleanliness and restock supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Lab preparations for surgical training sessions.
  • Handling and positioning of cadaveric specimens.
  • Surgical draping and instrumentation set-up.
  • Serve as technical support person for the lab during training sessions, fielding questions regarding specimens, instrumentation, and general use of the lab, including the Audio Visual communication system.
  • Utilize the standard protocols of a gross anatomy lab, operating room, and sterile processing.
  • Provide technical assistance and operate the fluoroscopy and arthroscopy machines during surgical training sessions.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the lab.
  • Restock laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Carry out other lab-related duties assigned by the Facility Manager and/or the Facility Coordinator.
