Part Time Surgical Technology Instructor
About The Position
Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic part-time Surgical Technology Instructor to bring real-world experience into the classroom and lab. The position is based at the Southcentral Kentucky CTC Main Campus, in the Allied Health department, and reports to the Dean of Allied Health. The salary is $25 per hour, with a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 25 hours per week. The instructor provides classroom and/or laboratory instruction in Surgical Technology, demonstrates safe surgical practices and sterile technique, and connects classroom learning with real-world surgical practice. The role also evaluates student learning, supports students preparing to enter the profession, and promotes professionalism, teamwork, patient safety, and critical thinking.
Requirements
- Must be a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
- Earned an Associate degree in Surgical Technology.
- At least two years of experience within the past five years, either in an operating room scrub role, as a Surgical Technology instructor, or a combination of both.
Responsibilities
- Provide engaging classroom and/or laboratory instruction in Surgical Technology courses.
- Demonstrate and reinforce safe surgical practices, sterile technique, instrumentation, and surgical procedures.
- Provide hands-on instruction that connects classroom learning to real-world surgical practice.
- Evaluate student learning and provide constructive feedback.
- Promote professionalism, teamwork, patient safety, and critical thinking.
- Support and encourage students as they prepare to enter the Surgical Technology profession.
