The Helen DeVos Children's Surgery department completes over 8000 cases per year and features 8 operating rooms, including one with a fully integrated iMRI suite. HDVCH surgery is verified as a Level 1 Children's Surgery site through the American College of Surgeons. The unit is staffed 24/7 with a team of RN’s and Surgical Technologists, and physician teams consist of all pediatric certified Surgeons and Anesthesiologists. Helen DeVos OR supports a large variety of specialties including ENT, General, Urology, Robotics, Plastics, Ortho/Ortho Spine, Cardiac, Dental, Burn, Ophthalmology, and Neurosurgery. Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is dedicated to fighting for every child, boasting 350+ pediatric specialists and subspecialists, 12 years of U.S. News & World Report national rankings, and innovations that attract patients globally. They provide both inpatient and ambulatory spaces, as well as a Level 1 trauma Emergency Department designated for children. The Surgical Technologist is responsible for the preparation of the surgical suite, intraoperative handling of instruments, maintenance of the sterile field, and evaluation of changing conditions during surgical procedures, making appropriate responses as needed. This role also involves maintaining knowledge of surgical procedures and principles related to those procedures and may include serving as a Preceptor.
