About The Position

The UW Medical Center-Montlake Operating Rooms have an outstanding opportunity for a Surgical Technologist. This position involves preparing operating rooms for surgical procedures, obtaining, assembling, and arranging sterile instruments and supplies, performing the scrub role, and maintaining patient safety throughout perioperative care. The role requires effective communication skills to enhance teamwork and customer service, flexibility, and proactivity to support an efficient and effective surgical environment. Success in this position requires organization, a desire to work in a team-oriented academic medical setting, the capability to stay abreast of current developments, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and knowledge of the duties of a Surgical Technologist.

Requirements

Completion of a Surgical Technologist program AND one year of experience assisting clinical staff in a variety of operative procedures in an operating room environment OR equivalent education/experience.
Registered by the State of Washington as a Surgical Technologist, or licensed in the State of Washington as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse or Physician.

Responsibilities

Take the lead in the patient care experience by prepping and maintaining our Operating Rooms for surgical procedures
Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and partners, from our scheduling team to surgeons
Work in a dynamic, fast-paced, problem-solving environment while maintaining vigilance of instruments and supplies used during surgical procedures
Perform scrub role while supporting patient safety a sterile environment
Support of post-operative tasks, including removal of contaminated instruments, decontamination, sterilization and turnover of the Operating Room
