About The Position

Memorial Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join its Surgery team in a full-time, benefits-eligible position. Surgical services at Memorial Hospital and the Memorial Hospital Outpatient Surgery Center include general and colorectal surgery, urology, gynecology, obstetrics, ophthalmology, ear/nose/throat, interventional peripheral vascular procedures, orthopedics, plastic surgery, podiatry, gastroenterology, and joint replacement.

Requirements

Diploma or certificate from an approved Surgical Technologist program, an Associate’s Degree in Surgical Technology, or an Associate’s Degree in another healthcare-related field.
Ability to maintain continuous American Heart Association/BLS certification.

Responsibilities

Prepare and organize the operating room, equipment, instruments, and supplies for various surgical procedures.
Anticipate the surgical team's needs and provide instruments and supplies during procedures.
Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts.
Prepare patient specimens and medications for the sterile field.
Set up and maintain an organized sterile field.
Use proper body mechanics when moving, transporting, and positioning patients, stretchers, and tables to help prevent injury.
Prepare sterile dressings as needed.
Provide the circulator with product packaging information for appropriate patient charging.
Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination area.
Assist with post-procedure cleaning of the operative or other invasive procedure room and prepare it for subsequent patients.
