About The Position

The Surgical Technician works under the direction of a Registered Nurse to provide patient care that is sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Under the RN’s direction, the technician sets up and maintains the surgical field and assists the surgeon during operative procedures. This is a full-time, night-shift position at Mount Carmel East, scheduled for three 12-hour shifts each week, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. An on-call rotation is required.

Requirements

Graduate of a surgical technology program and hold a surgical technology certificate through NBSTSA or NCCT, or graduate of a school of practical nursing.
If a graduate of a school of practical nursing, hold a current license in good standing to practice as a practical nurse in the State of Ohio.
BLS healthcare provider training required.
Able to participate in a required on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

Assist with surgery department goals and initiatives, including room turnover and first-case on-time starts.
Assist with training and orientation of associates as directed by the Clinical Educator.
Maintain a safe environment for patients.
Maintain sterile techniques.
Set up and maintain the surgical field under the RN’s direction.
Assist the surgeon during operative procedures under the RN’s direction.
Provide patient care sensitive to patients’ physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.
