About The Position
The Surgical Technologist, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, provides patient care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Under the RN’s direction, the Surgical Technologist sets up and maintains the surgical field and assists the surgeon during operative procedures. Opportunities are available at Mount Carmel East, Mount Carmel St. Ann’s, and Mount Carmel New Albany. On-call rotation is required. Mount Carmel East offers full-time schedules including night shift (36 hours, 7:00 pm–7:30 am) and day shifts Monday–Friday (40 hours, 7:00 am–3:30 pm or 7:00 am–5:00 pm). Mount Carmel St. Ann’s and Mount Carmel New Albany each offer full-time day schedules of 40 hours (7:00 am–5:30 pm) or 36 hours (7:00 am–7:30 pm). A $7,500 sign-on bonus is offered to full-time Surgical Technologists with a two-year commitment.
Requirements
- Graduate of a surgical technology program and hold a certificate of surgical technology through NBSTSA or NCCT, or be a graduate of a school of practical nursing.
- If a graduate of a school of practical nursing, hold a current license in good standing to practice as a practical nurse in Ohio.
- BLS healthcare provider training is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist in meeting surgery department goals and initiatives, including room turnover and on-time first-case starts.
- Assist with training and orientation of associates as directed by the Clinical Educator.
- Maintain a safe environment for the patient.
- Maintain sterile techniques.
- Set up and maintain the surgical field under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Assist the surgeon during operative procedures.
