About The Position
This is a Full Time Surgical Technologist position within Advocate Health. The role involves ensuring quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking and management of case-specific needs under the supervision of an RN. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and management of instruments, equipment, and supplies, effective communication with the team and patients, and taking initiative for professional growth and development. The position also involves cost containment activities related to instruments and inventory.
Requirements
- Graduation from a Surgical Technology program or from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
- Functions effectively under stressful and difficult situations

- Eye/face protection, gown, mask, gloves, hair covering

Responsibilities
- Ensures quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking, anticipation and management of case specific needs, under direct supervision of the RN.
- Ensures complete, accurate and timely care, cleanliness and management of instruments, equipment and supplies.
- Communicates to the team, co-workers and patients in an effective, positive and professional manner. Demonstrates effective, positive, professional manners while exercising verbal and nonverbal communication to the multidisciplinary team, co-workers, and patients.
- Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
- Demonstrates cost containment activities of instruments and inventory.
