About The Position

The Surgical Technologist assists the surgeon during operative and invasive procedures, ensures the operating suite is adequately prepared, collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, and helps maintain a safe and clean environment. The position reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager. The role is with Hartford HealthCare’s Greater Manchester Region, part of Connecticut’s most comprehensive healthcare network. The region includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, Rockville General, a multispecialty provider group, and visiting nurse services.

Requirements

Successfully complete a nationally accredited Surgical Technology program.
Hold Surgical Technologist Certification from a Department of Public Health-recognized national certifying body: CST through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting, or TS-C through the National Center for Competency Testing.
Candidates who completed an accredited Surgical Technologist program but are not certified by their hire date must obtain CST or TS-C certification within 90 days of hire.
Maintain Surgical Technologist Certification while employed in the role.
Hold Basic Cardiac Life Support certification upon hire or obtain it during the new employee introductory orientation period, and maintain clinical competency during employment.
Communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
Possess basic computer skills.
Surgical Technicians who acted in the role of Surgical Technician (Operating Room Technician) on or before October 1, 2023, may be grandfathered in under CT Public Act 23-195.
