About The Position

Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist in the Delivery Room at our Fairview Ridges Hospital located in Burnsville, MN. We’re offering a $5625 sign-on bonus along with a generous relocation bonus up to $5,000! This is a benefits-eligible role. As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room. Our 150-bed community-based hospital currently has 11 OR Rooms, averaging over 7,500 cases a year. Our OR specializes in areas including: Spine, Ortho, OB-GYN, General, ENT, Plastic, Urology, and Da Vinci. Our call response time is 30 minutes and it is a weekend. Increased flexibility! Limited Call schedule (1 out of 6 weekends).

Requirements

  • Complete one of the following by hire date: Military Surgical Assistant; OR LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR Surgical Technologist training
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)
  • Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
  • AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
  • 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to work well under a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.
  • Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
  • Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.
  • Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
  • Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
  • Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
  • Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
  • Anticipating the surgeon’s needs.
  • Following appropriate action in emergency situations.
