About The Position

The Surgical Technologist works under the direction of a Registered Nurse to provide patient care that is sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Under the RN’s direction, the technologist sets up and maintains the surgical field and assists the surgeon during operative procedures. This is a full-time day-shift position at Mount Carmel East, scheduled for three 12-hour shifts each week, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. An on-call rotation is required.

Requirements

Graduate of a surgical technology program and hold a surgical technology certificate through NBSTSA or NCCT, or graduate of a school of practical nursing.
If a graduate of a school of practical nursing, hold a current license in good standing to practice as a practical nurse in Ohio.
BLS healthcare provider training required.

Responsibilities

Assist with surgery department goals and initiatives, including room turnover and on-time first-case starts.
Assist with training and orientation of associates as directed by the Clinical Educator.
Maintain a safe environment for the patient.
Maintain sterile techniques.
Set up and maintain the surgical field under the RN’s direction.
Assist the surgeon during operative procedures.
