About The Position

The Surgical Technician works under the direction of a Registered Nurse to provide patient care that is sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Under the RN’s direction, the technician sets up and maintains the surgical field and assists the surgeon during operative procedures. This is a full-time, day-shift position at Mount Carmel East, scheduled for three 12-hour shifts per week, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. An on-call rotation is required.

Requirements

• Graduate of a surgical technology program and hold a certificate of surgical technology through the NBSTSA or NCCT, or be a graduate of a school of practical nursing.
• If a graduate of a school of practical nursing, hold a current license in good standing to practice as a practical nurse in the State of Ohio.
• BLS healthcare provider training is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with surgery department goals and initiatives, including room turnover and first-case on-time starts.
• Assist with associate training and orientation as directed by the Clinical Educator.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients.
• Maintain sterile techniques.
• Set up and maintain the surgical field under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Assist the surgeon during operative procedures.
