Surgical Technologist - Obstetrics/Gynecology
About The Position
This is a full-time position for a Surgical Technologist in the Obstetrics/Gynecology department at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. The role involves working in the Birth Center-OBGYN operating rooms, requiring 12-hour night shifts, every third weekend, and rotating holidays. The Surgical Technologist ensures quality patient care, safety, and advocacy under the supervision of an RN. Responsibilities include managing instruments, equipment, and supplies, effective communication with the team and patients, taking initiative for professional growth, and demonstrating cost containment activities.
Requirements
- Graduation from a Surgical Technology program or from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
Nice To Haves
- Certification in specialty area preferred.
Responsibilities
- Ensures quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking, anticipation and management of case specific needs, under direct supervision of the RN.
- Ensures complete, accurate and timely care, cleanliness and management of instruments, equipment and supplies.
- Communicates to the team, co-workers and patients in an effective, positive and professional manner. Demonstrates effective, positive, professional manners while exercising verbal and nonverbal communication to the multidisciplinary team, co-workers, and patients.
- Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
- Demonstrates cost containment activities of instruments and inventory.
