About The Position

The Surgical Technologist prepares the operating room for surgical procedures, including instruments, equipment, and supplies, and maintains the sterile field during procedures. Procedures may include colonoscopies, endoscopies, cataracts, and general procedures. The role also requires adherence to MercyOne’s performance expectations and carrying out services and related duties in accordance with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and cultural beliefs. This is a part-time position scheduled for 20 hours per week, with the option to work up to full-time hours. The shift is days, with no weekends, holidays, or on-call work. Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology, completion of a surgical tech apprenticeship, or completion of a military program.
Alternatively, graduate of an LPN program with surgical experience, or equivalent experience demonstrating competency.
CST certification is required if working in Illinois; it is preferred but not required in Iowa.
An LPN license is required for candidates who graduated from an LPN program.
No prior experience is required; 2–5 years of experience is strongly preferred.
BLS certification.
Mandatory Reporter qualification.
Ability to work with diverse groups of people and under pressure, with a large degree of independence and accountability.
Ability to accept responsibility for the direction, control, or planning of an activity.
Adaptability to perform a variety of duties and change tasks without loss of efficiency or composure.

Nice To Haves

CST certification for work in Iowa.
2–5 years of experience.
