About The Position

Memorial Community Hospital and Health System is seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to support physicians during surgical procedures, maintain sterile environments, and ensure high standards of patient care for patients across all age groups, from newborns to geriatrics. The role also supports nursing staff in Preop and Postop areas and helps maintain surgical supplies, instruments, and sterile packs. This is a full-time weekday daytime position, Monday through Friday, with participation in a shared on-call rotation outside business hours and on weekends. When contacted while on call, the employee must be able to report to the worksite within 30 minutes.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or on-the-job trained.
Current BLS certification.
Proficiency in sterile technique and sterile processing.
Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and procedures.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to adapt to changing schedules and patient care needs.

Nice To Haves

Current Surgical Technologist certification is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist/Sterile Processing Technologist or in an OR scrubbing role is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist physicians during surgical procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and maintaining accurate surgical counts.
Apply aseptic techniques and ensure necessary supplies are available.
Clean, sterilize, and assemble surgical instruments according to established protocols.
Maintain and monitor specialty trays and sterile packs, ensuring readiness and compliance.
Support nursing staff in Preop and Postop areas, including patient transport and discharge.
Stock supplies and assist with inventory management and charge entry.
Participate in on-call shifts for emergency surgeries and report to the worksite within 30 minutes when contacted.
