About The Position

Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Tech is responsible for the care and safety of patients under their care. The role prepares and maintains sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgery; follows principles of sterilization and disinfection; and maintains a sterile conscience and ethics. The Surgical Tech accurately prepares for assigned procedures, anticipates the needs of the patient and surgical team, passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon and assistants during procedures, and maintains an accurate account of sponges, needles, and instruments.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Current BLS certification.
• Good oral and written communication skills in English.
• Knowledge of surgical and sterile techniques and instruments.
• At least three years of surgical experience may be considered equivalent to the education requirement.

Nice To Haves

• Graduation from a Surgical Technician school is preferred.
• NBSTSA or NCCT certification is strongly preferred.
• At least one year of Surgical Technician experience is preferred.
