About The Position

Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Tech is responsible for the care and safety of patients under their care. The role prepares and maintains sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgery; follows sterilization and disinfection principles; and maintains a sterile conscience and ethics. The Surgical Tech prepares accurately for assigned procedures, anticipates the needs of patients and the surgical team, passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon and assistants during procedures, and accurately accounts for sponges, needles, and instruments.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Current BLS certification.
• Good oral and written communication skills in English.
• Knowledge of surgical techniques, sterile techniques, and instruments.
• At least one year of Surgical Technician experience is preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Graduation from a Surgical Technician school is preferred.
• NBSTSA or NCCT certification is strongly preferred.
• At least one year of Surgical Technician experience is preferred.
• Three or more years of surgical experience may be considered equivalent to the education requirement.

• Maintain an accurate account of sponges, needles, and instruments.
