About The Position

Fairview Range is hiring a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for their Surgical Services team in Hibbing, MN. As a Certified Surgical Technologist, you will provide perioperative care to patients under the direction of an RN, scrubs, and assist surgeons by handling instruments during procedures, maintaining aseptic technique, and maintaining instruments and equipment for efficient functioning. The Surgical Services unit has a large surgical staff offering a variety of services including ENT, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, Podiatry, and General Surgery. They are a Level IV trauma center performing emergency, inpatient, and outpatient surgeries and procedures. The unit features 4 operating rooms, 17 Same Day Surgery cubicles, and 6 recovery room cubicles, handling an average of over 3000 surgical procedures annually. The multidisciplinary care team includes Physicians, APPs, CRNAs, RNs, Surgical Techs, and Instrument Tech/Unit Assistants, serving a patient population from pediatric to geriatric. Fairview Range is an affiliate of M Health Fairview, a partnership that provides access to breakthrough medical research and specialty expertise.

Requirements

  • Completion of a surgical technology program or surgical technologist training
  • Operating room or similar scrub experience
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) within 90 Days
  • Surgical Technologist Certification

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience as a Surgical Technologist

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct perioperative patient care with regard to the physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being of the patient
  • Participate in collaboration with RN staff in gathering data to identify patient needs and surgeons' preferences.
  • Demonstrate awareness of age-specific criteria in obtaining appropriate equipment and supplies for procedures
  • Assist the RN in coordinating a plan of care based on prioritized patient needs related to types of surgical procedures and surgeon preferences.
  • Understand expected outcomes identified for the patient and work with the health care team in meeting these outcomes.
  • Assist the RN, anesthesia personnel, and the surgeon in prompt identification of changes in patient condition.
  • Assist other staff members in updating information pertinent to surgical procedures and surgeon preferences on an ongoing basis.
  • Handle instruments during procedures
