About The Position

The UW Medical Center-Northwest Operating Rooms have multiple outstanding opportunities for Surgical Technologists. This position functions competently and independently within multiple specialty areas. Competitive candidates will have certification as scrub technologist and/or six months of experience as an Operating Room Technician in a hospital operating room or childbirth center. Inherent to success in this position is organization, desire to work in a team-oriented academic medical setting, capability to stay abreast of current developments relevant to the position, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and knowledge of the duties of a Surgical Technologist.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Surgical Technologist program AND one year of experience assisting clinical staff in a variety of operative procedures in an operating room environment.
  • Certification as scrub technologist and/or six months of experience as an Operating Room Technician in a hospital operating room or childbirth center.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating assigned surgical procedures through the assembly of instrumentation, equipment, and supplies
  • Prepping and maintaining our Operating Rooms for surgical procedures
  • Collaborating with a variety of stakeholders and partners, from our scheduling team to surgeons
  • Performing scrub role while supporting patient safety and a sterile environment
  • Supporting of post-operative tasks, including removal of contaminated instruments, decontamination, sterilization and turnover of the Operating Room
