The Labor and Delivery (LDR) unit is a 16-bed unit that includes a 6-bed OB Emergency Department, 4 antenatal testing rooms, and 2 C/section suites. The unit actively participates in various quality improvement initiatives such as AIM, PPH protocols with QBL, Severe HTN protocols, and Team Birth. A charge nurse is present each shift to coordinate care, and daily safety huddles and bedside shift reports are integral to the unit culture. The unit adheres to AWHONN staffing standards for safe patient care and is part of a Center of Excellence in Advanced Perinatal Care Certification (ACPC), accredited by The Joint Commission. The OBED is nationally accredited by CIHQ and is the only accredited OBED in the country, staffed 24/7 by two nurses and an OB Hospitalist. New graduates are supported through a nationally accredited nurse residency program.
