Requirements

Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
Possess an accredited Surgical Technologist Certification or be willing and eligible to obtain it within the first six months of employment.
High School diploma or GED.
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities

Assist the physician in the direct care of patients in the operating room environment.
Handles instruments and supplies necessary during the surgical procedure.
Competent in the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
Ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure.
Maintain sterile field.
Demonstrate proper handling of surgical specimens.
Assist in cleaning, both routine and terminal and stocking the operating room.
Adhere to Association of Surgical Technologists and Association of Operating Room Nurses guidelines.
