About The Position

Inova Fairfax Hospital Operating Room is seeking a dedicated Surgical Technologist to join its team. This is a full-time position with varied shifts. The role requires advanced first-scrub practice, strong knowledge of anatomy and aseptic and surgical techniques, and the ability to anticipate instrumentation and the surgeon’s needs throughout surgical procedures. The Surgical Technologist also precepts staff and works with powered instrumentation, video equipment, microscopes, and complex instrumentation and equipment, and assists in evaluating new products and equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of Surgical Technologist experience.
• Registered Surgical Technologist licensure in the state of Virginia.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon start.

Nice To Haves

• Level one trauma experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge and practice in the role of the first scrub.
• Apply advanced knowledge of anatomy and anticipate the instrumentation required for each step of a surgical procedure.
• Expedite operative procedures by anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of aseptic and surgical techniques.
• Precept new and experienced staff in the scrub role.
• Provide working knowledge of powered instrumentation, video equipment, microscopes, and complex instrumentation and equipment.
• Assist in evaluating new products and equipment.
