About The Position
A leading healthcare facility is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to support surgical teams in a fast-paced Operating Room (OR) environment. The ideal candidate will assist in a variety of surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile field and ensuring optimal patient safety and care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician program (civilian or military)
- NBSTSA Certification (must be active and maintained)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Nice To Haves
- Experience across multiple surgical specialties preferred
- Orthopedic (Ortho) experience strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and necessary supplies
- Maintain sterile technique in accordance with established policies and AORN standards
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and sterile supplies
- Handle retractors, sutures, and perform sponge/needle counts
- Prepare, label, and manage surgical specimens appropriately
- Assist with patient positioning and transport within the OR
- Ensure proper functioning and readiness of surgical equipment
- Apply surgical dressings as directed
- Assist in medication preparation under supervision
- Support patient transfer to recovery areas
- Participate in room turnover, cleaning, and restocking supplies
- Uphold patient safety, privacy, and dignity at all times
- Collaborate with nursing staff and support specialty equipment needs
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development
