About The Position

This role is for a Surgical Tech in the Cardiac Operating Room at Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN. The position is PRN and operates on a Day Shift schedule. The Surgical Tech will facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures, prepare the surgical suite with sterile equipment and supplies, hand instruments and supplies to the surgeon during surgery, assist with patient preparation and positioning, and maintain instruments in an organized manner while monitoring instrument counts.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Per Tennessee Code (TCA) 68-57-101(a), non-certified applicants must have 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years preceding 5/21/07; or began the appropriate surgical technologist training prior to 5/21/07 and completed by 5/21/10.
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
Hand required/requested instruments and supply to surgeon during surgery.
Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor/track instruments counts throughout procedures.
