About The Position

The Surgical Tech works in the Labor and Delivery department at Via Christi in Manhattan, Kansas, facilitating safe and efficient surgical procedures. The role prepares the operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies, provides surgeons with requested instruments and supplies during surgery, and assists with hemostasis. The Surgical Tech also helps prepare, transport, position, and drape patients, while maintaining organized instruments and monitoring and tracking instrument counts throughout procedures.

Requirements

• BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• High school diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience, or an associate's/technical degree, or 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.
• Prepare the surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to the surgeon during surgery.
• Assist surgeons with provision of hemostasis during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning, and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instrument counts throughout procedures.
