About The Position

The Surgical Tech supports patient care and safety by preparing the operating room, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting the surgical team throughout procedures. The role helps ensure operational reliability by handling instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established protocols and regulatory standards. The Surgical Tech performs other duties as assigned and carries out all responsibilities in alignment with Kettering Health’s mission, vision, values, and B Safe program.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program (certificate or associate degree) or equivalent education as recognized by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST).
• No prior work experience is required; clinical experience obtained through a surgical technology program is acceptable.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required by the start date.
• Knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques.
• Ability to identify and handle surgical instruments and supplies.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Teamwork and collaboration.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions and protocols.
• Basic computer skills for documentation.
• Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in surgical technology or a related field.
• One year of experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care or hospital setting.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

Responsibilities
