About The Position

Performs the primary function of a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room. Maintains accountability for the provision of surgical instruments to the surgical team. Coordinates the care of the surgical patient with other team members. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. This program offers up to $10,000/year in tuition support, covering up to 3 years/$30,000. Funding includes tuition, books, registration/lab/technology fees, clinical scrubs, and more. It is designed to support a smooth transition into professional practice after graduation and provides direct career pathway opportunities within Mercy.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in a Surgical Tech program at a participating school.
  • Must submit 1 Letter of Recommendation.
  • Must submit Unofficial Transcript (if applicable).
  • Work a minimum of 16 hours per pay period (every 2 weeks) in a hospital-based role.
  • Must sign a contract agreeing to work 1–3 years at Mercy South after graduation (depending on years funded).

  • First or second year in the program are eligible.
