About The Position

This is a 13-week assignment for a skilled certified Surgical Tech looking for a high-impact role with premium compensation at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The role involves playing a vital part in delivering exceptional surgical care within the Labor and Delivery unit, which is a high-paced and dynamic environment caring for adult and pediatric patients ranging in age from newborns to 50+ year old women for obstetrical care before and after delivery. The unique aspect of this role is caring for two patients in one. The assignment is for 13 weeks with a potential extension up to 1 year. The shift is either Days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) or Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). The pay rate is $60/hour, with an anticipated start in June 2026.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved specific discipline OR successful completion of a surgical technologist training program during the applicant's service as a member of any branch of the armed forces of the United States.
  • NBSTSA CST or NCCT TS-C required (military training accepted in lieu of certification).
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of surgical tech experience preferred.
  • Labor and Delivery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates patient care, by assisting the surgeon before, during and after surgical procedures.
  • Plans, sets up, performs and cleans up the assigned surgical procedure as a circulator and as a scrub tech.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to apply the Principles of Asepsis in creating and maintaining the sterile field.
  • Performs sharp, sponge and instrument counts according to policy.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.
