About The Position

The Surgical Technologist/LPN, under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse and/or assigned circulating nurse, is responsible for performing procedures that ensure the safest and most effective service to patients and surgeons. As a scrubbed member of the surgical team, the role involves anticipating the surgeon's needs, passing instruments, sutures, sponges, and other sterile equipment, and assisting with vaginal deliveries. St. Tammany Health System is a full-service acute care facility dedicated to providing world-class healthcare, utilizing the latest technology and accomplished specialists to serve residents in west St. Tammany Parish and surrounding areas. The health system is located in Covington, a peaceful, scenic, community-oriented area.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology or LPN with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience on a women’s unit willing to obtain training on the job
• BLS required on hire
• BLS certification may be through any International Liaison Committee on resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association and American Red Cross
• The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off

Nice To Haves

• Surgical Technology Certification preferred
• One (1) year Operating Room experience preferred
