SURGICAL TECH INTERN
About The Position
Aspirus Wisconsin Rapids Hospital & Clinics is seeking a Surgical Tech Intern to work under the direct supervision of a precepting Surgical Technologist. The intern collaborates with the preceptor to help provide a safe, efficient environment for surgical patients and staff, following Aspirus standards of practice, policies and procedures, universal precautions, and sterile technique. The role is open to students currently enrolled in a Surgical Technologist program. Surgical Tech Intern I is for first-year students and works in Sterile Processing. Surgical Tech Intern II is for second-year students and works in the operating room. The position offers opportunities to enhance skills and increase understanding of processes. It is a paid, occasional-status position with flexible hours coordinated around student schedules. Many students who intern accept a technologist role before graduation.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Surgical Technologist program.
- Surgical Tech Intern I applicants are first-year students; Surgical Tech Intern II applicants are second-year students.
- Demonstrated knowledge of commonly used surgical equipment and instrumentation.
- Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
