About The Position

Aspirus Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, Wisconsin, is seeking Surgical Technologist students for its Surgical Tech Intern program. Interns work under the direct supervision of a precepting Surgical Technologist and collaborate to provide a safe, efficient environment for surgical patients and staff. The work follows Aspirus standards of practice and requires adherence to Aspirus policies and procedures, universal precautions, and sterile technique. Surgical Tech Intern I positions are for first-year students and work in Sterile Processing. Surgical Tech Intern II positions are for second-year students and work in the operating room. The internship offers opportunities to enhance skills and gain an increased understanding of processes. It is a paid, occasional-status position with flexible hours arranged around student schedules. Many interns accept a technologist role before graduation.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a Surgical Technologist program.
Demonstrate knowledge of commonly used surgical equipment and instrumentation.
Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

Work under the direct supervision of a precepting Surgical Technologist.
Collaborate with the precepting Surgical Technologist to help provide a safe, efficient environment for surgical patients and staff.
Follow Aspirus standards of practice, policies, and procedures, including universal precautions and sterile technique.
Work in Sterile Processing as a Surgical Tech Intern I or in the operating room as a Surgical Tech Intern II.
