About The Position

Responsible for overseeing and providing professional communication between staff and families during the perioperative visit.

Assist with preparing the schedule for the next day’s surgeries (assigning rooms, documenting weights and allergies)
Carry work phone at all times during working hours
Assist the patient and their visitor to the assigned bay in same day surgery
Explain the perioperative process to the patients and visitors
Assign designated bays to the patients
Ongoing timely rounds throughout same day surgery and PACU to check for schedule changes
Ongoing timely rounds throughout the visitors waiting room and provide items for comfort as needed (blankets)
Assist with the patient’s preoperative required preparations as needed
Assist with room cleaning and preparations
Oversee and provide communication through the J-Tech messaging system
Facilitate professional communication between staff, patient and visitors
Communication with the preoperative and registration departments
Communication with the Operating Room Charge Nurse
Communicates any surgical delays to the patient and visitors in a timely manner
Stock bays with supplies
Inform visitors of the pertinent hospital locations
Assists the designated individuals to the surgical consult room to speak with the surgeon following the case
Identifies activities that would achieve the desired patient family liason outcome
Ensures privacy for patients and visitors
Develops and uses positive interpersonal skills with peers, other members of the healthcare team, patients and visitors
Models professionalism to others
