About The Position

The Surgical Services Inventory Technician is responsible for picking of surgical cases via a case cart system and utilization of the Pyxis system. They are also responsible for the supply management of the Pyxis systems relating to both debiting and crediting of materials. This position requires a blend of skills and experience focused on the management of supplies in a fast-paced surgical environment. The technician functions as a member of the surgical services team by providing support and functioning as a resource. They will accurately and completely pull supplies and instruments for cases, put away incoming stock, and return used supplies to the Pyxis accurately.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Must be able to learn, demonstrate and practice aseptic technique.
  • Ensures accuracy of inventories kept in Pyxis.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with inventory management of the OR Pyxis cabinets.
  • Procurement of items for picking case carts.
  • Crediting the patient for all returned items.
  • Ensuring all incoming inventory is properly identified, put away in correct locations, and on a timely basis.
  • Overseeing inventory and assisting with checking for outdated or soon-to-expire products (rotation of inventory) and reporting it to the surgical services materials Supervisor.
  • Picking case carts, resupplying of OR suites, all surgery inventory locations including storerooms, crediting of unused surgical supplies, and other duties as assigned.
  • Learning, demonstrating, and practicing aseptic technique.
