About The Position

The Surgical Services Inventory Technician is responsible for picking of surgical cases via a case cart system and utilization of the Pyxis system. They are also responsible for the supply management of the Pyxis systems relating to both debiting and crediting of materials. This position requires a blend of skills and experience that are focused on the management of supplies. Surgery is a fast-paced environment. Functions as a member of the surgical services team by providing support and functioning as a resource. Will accurately and completely pull supplies and instruments for cases as well as put away incoming stock and return used supplies to the Pyxis accurately.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Required
Must be able to learn, demonstrate and practice aseptic technique.
Ensures accuracy of inventories kept in Pyxis.
Data collection for statistics
Flexibility in work hours to accommodate OR volumes
Adheres to safety and infection control policies of the department and SRMC.
Adheres to rules of confidentiality and patients right to privacy.
Recognizes and reports safety issues to charge personnel.
Able to demonstrate Core Values to patients and coworkers.

Responsibilities

Assisting with inventory management of the OR Pyxis cabinets, including procurement of items for picking case carts and crediting the patient for all returned items.
Ensuring all incoming inventory is properly identified, put away in correct locations, and on a timely basis.
Overseeing inventory and assisting with checking for outdated or soon-to-expire products, and reporting it to the surgical services materials Supervisor.
Picking case carts, resupplying of OR suites, all surgery inventory locations including storerooms, and crediting of unused surgical supplies.
Learning, demonstrating, and practicing aseptic technique.
Ensuring accuracy of inventories kept in Pyxis.
Data collection for statistics.
Flexibility in work hours to accommodate OR volumes.
