Surgical Scheduling Coordinator (Chesapeake Specialty Care)
About The Position
The Surgical Scheduling Coordinator, under the direct supervision of the Clinical Lead, is responsible for surgical scheduling for multiple surgeons. This role ensures all parties involved in a surgical case have the appropriate information, including the patient, surgeon, MOC, and anesthesia. The coordinator will have frequent contact, coordination, and communication with all parties involved in surgical cases. A key aspect of this role is maximizing resources by eliminating gaps in the OR schedule and making recommendations or changes to fully utilize surgical time, which will have a significant financial impact on surgical revenue.
Requirements
- Surgical Scheduling experience is a requirement.
- Computer/technology savvy is a requirement.
Responsibilities
- Schedules surgeries in a timely manner.
- Manages the function of resources, efficiencies, utilization, and operations.
- Coordinates and communicates with the patient, surgeon, MOC, and financial clearance all necessary information to ensure scheduled cases are completed.
- Communicates with the patient all tests and appointments related to surgical procedures (e.g., CT scan, pre-op appointments).
- Relays information to patients regarding preparation for laboratory tests, examinations, and procedures.
- Assures all patient correspondence (consent, orders, history, and physical, etc.) is transmitted to correct areas in a timely manner to streamline patient processing.
