Full -time Surgical Physician Assistant – Northern Dutchess Hospital
About The Position
The Surgical PA Service at Northern Dutchess Hospital is seeking to add a board-certified full-time Physician Assistant to join its team. We are a hospital-based group that offers a supportive and team-based environment with exposure to multiple surgical subspecialties. Responsibilities currently include OR first assist coverage as well as perioperative management of patients on the general surgery service. This position is a great opportunity for growth with a high volume of DaVinci Robotic Surgery cases. This position is for four 10-hour shifts per week with one weekend shift per month. There is an extensive onboarding and training period as well as a supportive environment for collaboration and learning.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- NCCPA certified.
- Strong surgical and patient management experience.
- At least one to three years of surgical experience and/or surgical residency trained candidates preferred.
- New graduates will be considered.
- New nurse practitioners with RNF certification and surgical experience will be considered.
Responsibilities
- OR First Assisting in specialties including but not limited to general, plastic, spine, bariatric and OB/GYN cases.
- Rounding on general surgery patients daily as part of a team-based approach with attendings, residents, and students.
- Covering admissions and consults for general surgeons.
- On-call from home night coverage, including first assisting emergent OR cases, admissions, and consults for general surgery.
- Performing floor procedures including but not limited to NG tube insertion and removal, wound vac and dressing changes, and bedside I&D.
- Cross-coverage between NDH PA services and Vassar Brothers Medical Center PA services in a limited capacity.
