We are seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant who will provide health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of Physician by performing the following duties:

Requirements

  • Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant studies
  • National Certification as a Physician Assistant
  • BLS and ACLS Certification required
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification required
  • Excellent suturing and wound closure skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) year Physician Assistant experience in a relevant clinical area preferred, e.g., orthopaedics or sports medicine, general surgery, reconstructive surgery, or other surgical specialties.

Responsibilities

  • Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data including health history and results of physical examination.
  • Under the direction of a total joints (hips and knees) Physician, you will conduct patient assessments, order, or directly provide treatments, and provide patient education and support.
  • Provides post-op follow-ups as needed including hospital rounding.
  • First assist in the O/R 3 days per week and clinic 2-3 days per week.
  • Work under protocol to develop an effective, safe, and patient-centered treatment plan.
  • Provide timely and complete clinical documentation in the EHR following patient visits or telephone calls.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the physician regarding assigned patients and provide timely notification of changes in patient status.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with other members of the care team through written documentation, telephone or in-person conversation.
  • Ensure timely access of patient appointments.
