About The Position

Join a collaborative Anatomic Pathology team at Missouri Baptist Medical Center as a Surgical Pathology Technical Coordinator. This leadership-focused role provides technical support, assists with daily operations, mentors staff, and helps ensure efficient workflow throughout the department. The Clinical Laboratory at Missouri Baptist Medical Center is committed to improving the health and wellness of patients through our expertise in laboratory medicine and strong customer service. The laboratory performs over 1 million tests annually with a focus on providing accurate and timely results and services to patients and the community we serve. The laboratory is fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB).

Requirements

• CT(ASCP) certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant laboratory experience required.
• Bachelor's Degree - Physical/Life Science/related
• 2-5 years experience
• CT-ASCP or equiv
• HT-ASCP or equiv
• HTL-ASCP or equiv

Nice To Haves

• 2+ years of experience preferred.
• Cytology or Cytotechnologist experience preferred.
• 5-10 years experience
• Supervisor Experience

Responsibilities

• Provide bench-level support within Anatomic Pathology.
• Coordinate daily workflow and staff schedules.
• Assess and prioritize workload.
• Train and mentor new team members.
• Support operational excellence and quality patient care.
• Performs all duties of a cytotechnologist or histotechnologist/histotechnician, utilizing the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively meet the needs of all patients and clients by providing quality results in a timely manner.
• Provides daily operational oversight (determine schedules, manage day to day workflow, and give input into an assessment or disciplinary action).
• Provides technical support to all bench level positions within Anatomic Pathology.
• May be responsible for one or more technical areas of focus, to include training, quality assurance, and technical support.
• Assesses workload, prioritizes work, makes staffing adjustments and assists staff when needed.
• Coordinates/reviews schedules with supervisors and coordinators to ensure adequate staffing for shift.
• Focuses on quality by assembling and reviewing statistical data and assuring performance of all quality control procedures.
• Ensures quality control and instrumentation maintenance records meet standards of accrediting and licensing agencies.
• Assist the department Lab Director and Lab Supervisors, as appropriate, in the implementation of new QC/QA policies and continuous quality improvement programs in accordance with the Quality Management Program.
• Provides support during inspections.
• Oversees department operations in the absence of a supervisor.
• Coordinates the operation of the anatomic pathology information system within the laboratory.
• Ability to perform, maintain quality, and troubleshoot testing in a broad range of histochemical, immunohistochemical, immunofluorescent, and/or cytochemical procedures.
• Mentors and/or trains new and established staff members and students in routine and specialized techniques used in the laboratory.
• Participates in competency assessment of staff and proctors competency or proficiency testing.
• The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
