Requirements

A college graduate or other individual interested in exploring opportunities in an in-office surgical setting.
A passion for taking care of people.
Ability to be a team player in a fast-paced environment.
Must have reliable transportation and a willingness to travel to various surgical centers in Maryland.
Will train motivated and hard-working candidates.
No experience is necessary, although it will be viewed favorably.

Responsibilities

Escort patients to the exam/procedure room and assist with walking as needed.
Collect patient information/history, take vitals, and perform screenings per provider guidelines.
Prepare paperwork for the patient’s current visit and ensure complete and accurate documentation within the patient’s electronic medical record.
Complete pre-operative intake via a one-on-one interview with the patient, explain surgical procedures, and answer questions within your scope.
Prepare procedure rooms and surgical trays with all necessary supplies.
Comply with all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations.
Drape and disinfect the surgical site, administer local anesthesia injections, and use a handheld cautery device for hemostasis.
Assist the physician during procedures by passing instruments, blotting, cutting sutures, etc.
Bandage surgical sites, prepare discharge paperwork, review wound care instructions with patients, and address any questions or concerns.
Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization in an autoclave.
Collect and accurately process specimens.
Prepare pathology and lab specimens, routing them to the correct lab based on patient insurance, and maintain an accurate pathology log.
Remove sutures.
Notify patients of pathology and lab results.
Respond to patient questions in the office and over the phone as instructed.
Schedule or reschedule appointments with providers and specialists as necessary, and send appropriate records.
Maintain medication samples, discard out-of-date supplies, and keep appropriate records.
Maintain infection control and cleanliness of exam rooms, and keep supply cabinets well-stocked.
Document all medical instructions given to patients.
Travel required to the following offices: Hagerstown, MD; Westminster, MD; Havre de Grace, MD; Glen Burnie, MD.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
