About The Position

The Surgical First Assistant provides primary surgical assistance to the primary surgeon during procedures. Under the surgeon’s direct supervision and while the surgeon is physically present and immediately available to respond to critical moments, the assistant applies their knowledge and skills to provide hemostasis, closures, and other intraoperative technical functions that support safe procedures and optimal outcomes. When not assisting the surgeon, the employee functions as a surgical technician. The role requires flexible hours and on-call availability nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• High school education; college preferred.
• Certified Surgical Technology First Assistant.
• Hold and maintain certification from a recognized certifying agency as required by Florida, or meet applicable reciprocity requirements for good standing certification from another state.
• Assist with 350 documented surgical cases as a CSFA.
• At least 3 years of previous operating room experience.
• Current BLS certification approved by the American Heart Association.
• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist.
