About The Position

The Surgeon’s Assistant works under the direct supervision of the surgeon. The role requires knowledge of surgical anatomy and physiology, operative techniques relevant to surgical procedures, and the principles of asepsis and infection control. The Surgical Assistant maintains clinical competence in preoperative assessment and intraoperative first-assistant duties and is responsible for patient preparation and assistance during the surgical procedure.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program in Surgical Assisting or be an International Medical Graduate.
• Three years of previous experience as a Surgical Assistant.
• CPR certification.
• Knowledge of surgical anatomy and physiology, operative techniques relevant to surgical procedures, and the principles of asepsis and infection control.
• Clinical competence in preoperative assessment and intraoperative first-assistant duties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the patient for the surgical procedure.
• Assist during the operation as a First Assistant.
